We built this fixture for versatility. The round canopy sits flush against standard junction boxes, and the shade is wide enough to illuminate small to medium rooms without glare. Whether you’re updating rental lighting or finishing a basement, this fixture installs quickly and works with most standard bulbs.

What the numbers mean
The white glass shade on this Mainstays fixture is made from tempered glass that resists chips and cracks during installation. We use a frosted finish to soften the light from bare bulbs and eliminate hot spots on the ceiling.
The metal canopy and mounting plate are finished in white powder-coat paint. This coating holds up in damp environments — bathrooms, laundries, and mudrooms — without peeling or flaking. The screws and wire connectors are zinc-plated to resist corrosion over time.
This flush mount accepts any medium-base (E26) bulb up to 60 watts incandescent. We recommend LED bulbs for energy savings — a 9W LED delivers about 800 lumens, enough to light a 10×12 bedroom comfortably.
The fixture is not dimmable unless you install a dimmable LED bulb and have a compatible wall switch. Standard on/off wall switches work with any bulb type. Bulbs are sold separately.
What’s in the box
Your Mainstays 11″ Classic Flush Mount ships with a circular mounting plate, two threaded screws, wire connectors, and the glass shade with attached canopy. You’ll need a Phillips screwdriver and wire strippers — no special tools.
Mounting to a junction box
The fixture mounts to any standard round or octagonal junction box. The mounting plate has slotted holes to accommodate different box stud spacings. Once the wires are connected and tucked into the box, the canopy screws onto the mounting plate and the glass shade twists into place with a quarter turn. Total install time is typically 15–20 minutes for someone comfortable working with household wiring.
Where to use flush mount ceiling lights
We designed the 11″ Classic for spaces where a pendant or chandelier would hang too low. Hallways, laundry rooms, closets, and bedrooms with seven- or eight-foot ceilings are ideal.
The fixture is UL-listed for damp locations, so it works in bathrooms without a shower enclosure and on covered porches. It’s not rated for wet locations — don’t install it in open-air outdoor areas or directly above a bathtub. The fixture itself is not dimmable, but you can achieve dimming by installing a dimmable LED bulb and pairing it with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Standard incandescent bulbs and non-dimmable LEDs will work with a regular on-off wall switch only.
Twist the glass shade counterclockwise about a quarter turn. It will release from the canopy and drop down into your hand. Replace the bulb, then line up the notches on the shade with the tabs on the canopy and twist clockwise to lock it back in place.
Yes, the mounting plate works with round and octagonal junction boxes. The slotted screw holes accommodate most common stud spacings. If your existing box is recessed more than half an inch into the ceiling, you may need a box extender to bring the mounting surface flush.
The canopy sits about one inch below the ceiling surface, and the glass shade adds another two inches. Total drop is approximately three inches, so it works well in rooms with low clearance or sloped ceilings where a hanging fixture would be impractical.
